How cat owners prepare for tenants with mild cat allergies

There are many things to do to prepare your home for guests. When you worry about choosing the perfect menu and having your child clean up the toy explosion in their playroom, you may also worry about hosting a guest who is allergic to cats. Your cat is part of the family, but you certainly don’t want your visitors to sneeze and feel pain during the entire journey.
Unfortunately, cat allergies are more common than dog allergies, says Sarah Wooten of DVM. Dr. Wooten also pointed out that there is no such thing as hypoallergenic cats (even hairless cats can cause allergies), even though any marketing you see tries to tell you otherwise. Dr. Wooten said that this is because humans are not actually allergic to cat hair, but to a protein called Fel d 1 in cat saliva. Cats can easily spread saliva to their fur and skin, which is why allergies can explode quickly.
Here are a few steps you can take to prepare your home (and your favorite cat!) to welcome guests with allergies:
If possible, keep your cat away from the room where your guests will sleep in the weeks before they arrive. This reduces potential allergens that may lurk in the room and disrupt their ability to sleep.
Dr. Wooten suggested investing in HEPA (for high efficiency particulate air) filters or air purifiers. HEPA air purifiers and filters can remove allergens from the air at home, which can alleviate the symptoms of allergy sufferers who spend their time at home.
Dr. Wooten said that although they may not particularly like it, wiping your cat with an unscented baby wipe can reduce loose hair and dander, allowing your guests to get closer to your pet without serious allergies. .
Cleaning is inevitably part of the daily routine of the company, but you can clean more effectively by using a vacuum cleaner that also contains a HEPA filter. This will trap allergy-inducing particles and help keep your guests comfortable. You should clean, mop and vacuum your carpets and furniture frequently, especially in the days before your guests arrive, in order to remove dander from where they will be.
If you really want to reduce allergic reactions to cats, Dr. Wooten recommends trying Purina’s LiveClear cat food. Its marketing purpose is to combine the Fel d 1 protein produced in cat saliva to reduce the impact of cat allergies on humans.
Although you cannot completely eliminate the tendency of your favorite cat to cause sneezing, these steps will certainly help curb allergies and make your visitor’s stay more comfortable and enjoyable.
